Carole Mae Hammer, nee Cerny, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully at home with family on December 31, 2024, at the age of 86. Carole was born on December 26,1938 in Chicago, IL, to Mary and Joseph Cerny. Carole spent 84 of her 86 years in Chicago and the suburbs. Loving mother of Cheryl (John) DiCosola. Carole adored her 4 grandchildren, Becca, Rachel, Josh, and Gracie. She is the dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Carole is preceded in death by her parents, her son Charles Hammer, her sisters, Elaine Majkut, Shirley Cerny, and Mary Jane Gannon, and her brothers, Joseph Cerny, Norbert Cerny, and Ronald Cerny.

Carole will be remembered for "being a delight", her "amazing attitude", her feistiness, and her warmth, her love for her cats, and her ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Carole easily made friends wherever she went, including her many years working as an associate at Walmart.
