Daniel J. Taczy passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024 at the age of 78. Dan was born on July 27, 1945 to Joseph and Emily Taczykiewicz in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from Gordon Tech High School, he joined the Marine Corps, becoming a Sergeant while serving his country in Vietnam in 1967. Dan was the loving and devoted husband of Diane (nee Kieltyka) and beloved father to Michael (Heather), Kenneth (Rebecca) and Craig. He was a proud grandfather to Benjamin, Jack, Charlie, Kalyn, Nathan and Avery.Dan was also a dear brother of the (late) Robert, Donna (late Robert) Stake and Janice as well as a fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Dan was a resident of Crestwood for 53 years. Since 1988, he was a member of the Village of Crestwood Planning/Zoning Commission. He was also an active parishioner of Incarnation Church for 52 years. Dan was a favorite baseball and basketball coach to his children and their teammates and also served 8 years as a Little League District 8 representative. After retiring from Astoria Wire in 2010, he shifted to his next passion, volunteering at the Orland Park Veterans Center to help other veterans. Aside from volunteering, he enjoyed traveling to Colorado, Michigan and Aruba and watching his grandchildren's activities. We will miss Dan's positive presence and welcoming attitude to everyone he met.
Visitation Monday, July 1, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Funeral Tuesday, July 2nd beginning with Chapel Prayers at 10:30 A.M. at the Becvar & Son Funeral Home, 5539 W. 127th Street, Crestwood, to Incarnation Catholic Church, 5757 W. 127th Street, Crestwood, for an 11:00 A.M. Mass. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Honor Flight Chicago to continue to support the men and women who served this country. www.honorflightchicago.org .
