Edward Michael Franz, aged 92, passed away quietly on Sept 25, 2025. Born on July 19, 1933, in Chicago, IL. Ed was a man of quiet strength and enduring love. He had a strong moral compass, with respect for everyone. He was filled with kindness, grace and had a wonderful self-effacing sense of humor. He lived a life devoted to his family, service and community. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, Ed was a Korean War Veteran and served his country with honor and integrity. He was also a founding member of the Chulucanas Fellows which provided financial support to close friend Bishop McNabb of the diocese of Chulucanas, Peru. His career was spent running the food, fruit and vegetable distribution and production company his father founded in the 1920's and investing in real estate and many businesses. Ed was also an avid reader with an impressive library including classics, history, and novels. He loved to watch all the Chicago sports teams. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Margaret ("Mom and Butch"), his brother Bill, his two sisters Margie and Patricia and his two nephews Jay and Terry. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dolores (Hoffman), his daughter Peggy, and son Patrick (Judy). His legacy continues through his beloved grandsons and great grandchildren: Matthew (Edita), Andrew (Alexa), Michael (Alyssa) and their beautiful children Asher and Chloe. Ed's legacy is one of family, integrity, resilience, and love. His family invites all who knew him to a visitation and funeral service on October 8, 2025.
Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the Becvar & Son Funeral Home, 5539 W. 127th Street, Crestwood, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 A.M. at Incarnation St. Terrence Parish, 5757 W. 127th Street, Crestwood. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to your favorite charity in Edward's name.
