Fred C. Pesek

Fred C. Pesek Sr., U.S. Air Force Veteran, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the age of 94. Fred was born in Chicago, the son of the late Laddie and Louise, nee Kalina, Pesek. Beloved husband of Virginia, nee Dolehide, for over 70 years. Devoted father of Catherine (Walter) Warachowski, Donna (Lawrence) Kochan, Rev. Fred C. Pesek Jr., and Eileen (Richard) Novick. Proud grandpa of Bridget (Jim) McShane, Mary (Tim) Hawking, Matthew Kochan (Lauren Kash), Tim Novick, and Grace Novick. Doting great-grandpa of Luke and Danny Hawking. Fond brother of the late James (Evelyn) and Frank (Elizabeth) Pesek. Dear brother-in-law of Jim (Toni), Bob, Larry (Kim Stewart), and the late Bill (late Judy) Dolehide. Loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fred was also a dear friend to all that knew him. Fred served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950 until 1954. He worked as a Service Technician for Sears and Roebuck for over 50 years and was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion Post 2011. Fred was a kind, gentle soul, and a good friend who would help anyone in need. He enjoyed bowling and was a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan. As a dedicated parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fred and Virginia were involved in numerous ministries throughout the years. The family wishes to thank the Northwestern Medicine Hospice Care and all of Fred’s caregivers for their unwavering and gentle care they all provided.

Visitation Monday, June 22, 2026 from 2-8 P.M. at the Becvar & Son Funeral Home, 5539 W. 127th Street, Crestwood. Family and friends will meet on Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 15050 S. Wolf Rd, Orland Park, for a Visitation from 10:30 A.M. until the Mass of the Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Interment and Military Honors will occur at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th Street, Alsip.
