IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John B
Varney
August 16, 1957 – February 23, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John B. Varney, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather to his fur babies, and a beloved brother and friend. John left this world surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
John was the beloved husband of Mari C. Varney, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they raised three sons who were the pride of his life: John C. Varney, Ronald L. Varney (married to Celeste L. Varney), and William D. Varney. John was a guiding light to his children, teaching them the value of independence, hard work, and perseverance. He took great joy in passing on his skills, from changing oil and tires to tackling home repairs, ensuring his sons could stand on their own two feet.
Born to the late Carl and Delphine Varney, John was one of seven siblings. He was preceded in death by his brothers Roland M. Varney, Gary Michael Varney, and Phillip Roy Varney, as well as his sister Cora Lou Phillips. He is survived by his sister Phyllis Fischer and brother Carl Ray Varney, who will forever cherish the memories of their brother's love and loyalty.
John was a man of many passions. He found freedom and joy on the open road, riding his motorcycle and sharing this love with his wife and sons. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the country, ensuring his family experienced new and exciting places every year. These travels created countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
John also had a deep love for video games, a hobby he enthusiastically shared with his family. Whether it was racing games, puzzles, or adventures, John loved sitting down with his wife and sons for friendly competitions and cooperative play. These moments were filled with laughter, bonding, and the joy of spending quality time together. His love for gaming was just one more way he connected with his family and created lasting memories.
Above all, John was a family man. He took immense pride in his sons' accomplishments and adored his daughter-in-law, Celeste. He was also a proud "grandpaw" to his two spoiled grandpups, Ryder Dye Varney and Titan Krypto Varney, who brought him endless joy and companionship.
John's legacy is one of love, dedication, and the importance of family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at the Becvar & Son Funeral Home, 5539 W. 127th Street, Crestwood, from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1st at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will occur at Wheatland Township Cemetery, 22440-22556 104th St, Naperville.
Rest in peace, John. Your love, wisdom, and laughter will forever remain in our hearts.
