Margaret Anne Hegarty, born into time February 28, 1963 and born into eternal life June 17, 2026. Preceded into heaven by her mother Rebecca “Becky” and her father William “Bill.” Survived in earthly life by many faithful and loving friends and relatives including her older brother, William “Bill”, younger sister Kathleen “Kathy”, her husband John, and their children Ryan and Johnny, and Johnny’s daughter Isla.

Margaret was a lifelong resident of Alsip, Illinois. In fact, she lived in the same house and slept in the same bedroom her entire life. Simple, steady, and solid attachments were always hers. She was blessed by being able to find peace in the spiritual. She attended Lane Elementary School, Prairie Jr. High School, Queen of Peace High School, and Moraine Valley Community College.

As a child, Margaret developed close relationships with many friends, many of which exist still today. She was in the Brownies and Girl Scouts, and participated in many other family, church, and school activities. She always felt blessed for having these strong connections. When still young, Margaret enjoyed the likes of the Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, and Jerry Lewis movies on T.V. Even as a child her gifted personality led her to try and bring these simple joys to others.

As she got older, Margaret’s interests tended towards older classic Hollywood actors and movies. Often times, she would quote and impersonate people and scenes with her friends. Again, to pass on her joy! It was during this time that Margaret started becoming known to many as “Maggie.” Her interests and friends continued to increase, always leaving wonderful impressions and memories. She enjoyed traveling, even more so with friends and family that she loved. She always collected her memories with keepsakes and memorabilia. One of the larger being from her favorite movie, Gone With The Wind. She often took pictures and made sure that others were given a little record of their memories.

Maggie became a member of the Orland Park Theatre Troupe and was a background character in the 1992 movie, Straight Talk. Of her many other interests, she enjoyed singing karaoke. Typically her favorite song was Patsy Cline’s “Crazy.” So much of what Margaret always wanted was to share her joys and benefits with others. She spent most of her working career in insurance customer service where her exceptional personality helped her excel.

Everyone who knows Maggie knows that she was filled with compassion for the well being and care for others. She has always cherished the blessings of God, her family, and her friends. She was selfless in her pursuit of trying to return that love. Maggie has been a caretaker, a loved one and a friend throughout her whole life. We are all touched by that. She will always be with us.

Margaret ended her year long battle with cancer in peace knowing fully that her earthly life’s mission was faithfully and lovingly completed. She accepted God’s will and in now in heaven in eternal peace and love with our father God and our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
