IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas F.
Pietruszka
November 11, 1950 – February 24, 2026
Tom Pietruszka, born November 11, 1950, on the South Side of Chicago, passed away on February 24, 2026, leaving behind his wife and lifelong partner, Michele, and a family who loved him deeply. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, strong convictions, and dedication to those who mattered most. Tom was the loving husband of Michele (Kampf) Pietruszka and devoted father of Arica Guarino (Anthony). He was the loving Grampa to Evan and Grace Guarino, proud father of Nathan Cashman and doting Grampa to Carter Cashman. He was the son of the late Sophie and Frank Pietruszka, a loving brother to Barbara (Joseph) Motto and the late Robert (Caroline) Pietruszka. He was the adoring uncle to Joey (Tami) Motto, Renee Podpora, Kristen (Eric) Smith, the late Keith Pietruszka, Michele (Gillian) Thornton, Matt Thornton, and Ashley (James) Sanner. Loving great-uncle to Danielle Podpora, Daniel Podpora, Joseph Motto Jr., Nicole Pietruszka, and Jackson Meyer. Loving brother-in-law to Yvonne (Michael) Kolling and the late Sheryle Valles. Dear nephew of the late Mary Boratyn.
Tom's Catholic faith was a steady foundation in his life. It guided his values, shaped his strong sense of right and wrong, and influenced the way he loved and supported his family. A proud graduate of St. Rita High School, Tom carried his South Side roots with him wherever he went. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era and remained committed to supporting fellow veterans through his involvement with Disabled American Veterans. Tom spent many years working in sales at Mi-Jack Products, Inc., where he formed lasting friendships and earned the respect of his fellow coworkers. He and Michele built a wonderful life together between the Chicago suburbs and Lake Dewart in Indiana — a place that brought them so much happiness. Whether boating, water skiing, or golfing, Tom was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He loved good food, playing cards, great conversation, and staying on top of politics and current events — he always knew what was going on and had an opinion to share. Tom will be remembered for his strong beliefs, his deep love for his family, his energy, his faith in God, his patriotism, and the way he opened his home to anyone who needed one. Above all, he will be remembered for his warmth and kindness.
