William J. Thometz, the loving husband of the late Marlene (nee Becvar) Thometz, who preceded him in death on April 6, 2022, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 23, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, John R. and Louise (nee Schick) Thometz. A cherished brother, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, John (the late Anne), Richard (Laura), Charles (Sue), and his sister, Ruth (the late Edmund) Jung. Bill was a dear uncle to many wonderful nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Bill was close to the Thometz and Becvar extended families and dear friend of George Becvar. Bill was a school counselor in the Chicago Public Schools, active in many Catholic organizations, and a longtime member of the Secular Franciscan Order. Bill will be remembered for his devotion to family, his deep faith, and his kindness.
Visitation Saturday, 8:00 A.M. until time of prayers at 9:15 A.M. at the Becvar & Son Funeral Home, 5539 W. 127th Street, Crestwood. Funeral Mass at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 8245 W. 111th Street, Palos Hills. Interment St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
