Elizabeth Pretkelis-Heaton, 46, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2024. Liz was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, David Heaton, a loving mother to her son, Nicholas Dunkel, and a caring step-mother to Naveah Heaton. She is deeply missed by her parents, Algird and Carol Pretkelis; siblings, James (Lesley) Pretkelis and Margaret (Brett) Rush; nieces, Brooklyn and Lacey Pretkelis; nephew, Lucas; aunts and uncles, Gregory (Adrienne) Jablonowski; Diane Haton; and Carol Jablonowski; and cousins, Walter (Barbara) Pretkelis, Geoffrey (Jane) Pretkelis, Kenneth (Dev) Haton, Nicolette (Kevin) Haton Shanks, Adam (Caitlyn) Jablonowski, and Grace (Erik) Panek. She is also survived by many friends, second cousins, and her devoted dog, Snowball. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Augustus and Emilijia Pretkelis, and Edward and Helen Jablonowski; her Uncle Joseph (Carol) Jablonowski; and Uncle Walter and Aunt Ann Pretkelis. A lover of animals, colorful fashions, and scary movies, Liz used her determined spirit and high energy to teach social studies to high school students at Thomas Kelly High School and Bolingbrook High School before becoming a stay-at-home mom. All who knew her will forever miss her bright smile and warm laugh.
Visitation Monday, January 22, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Becvar & Son Funeral Home, 5539 W. 127th Street, Crestwood. Chapel prayers at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, followed by a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. George Catholic Church, 6707 W. 175th Street, Tinley Park. Interment will be private.
