Helen Noreen Evertowski, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on January 19, 2023. Born in Chicago Illinois, to parents John and Nellie (nee McGowan) Gavin, Helen grew up on the South Side of Chicago with her brothers and sisters. She graduated from Maria High School and attended DePaul University. She was an Executive Assistant when her best friend set her up on a blind date to meet Jerome, who became her husband of 52 years.
Helen had a strong Catholic faith, a quick wit, enjoyed painting and excelled at crosswords, astounding all with her recall of the most obscure trivia. She loved her lifelong friends called “the gang”, her family, and especially adored watching her grandchildren grow up. Helen is survived by her children Chris (Lisa) Everett, Laura (Dennis) Fitzgibbons, Terri (Doug) Streicher, and Lynn Evertowski, grandchildren Elizabeth, Zachary, Catherine, Alex, Charlie, Thomas, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome, her parents John and Nellie Gavin, brothers John and Jim Gavin, and sisters Mary (John) Stryker and Patsy Gavin.
