Kathy Meyers Obituary

Kathy Meyers passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her Oak Lawn home on the morning of Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the age of 62.  Beloved mother of Bob and Arielle Huestis.  Cherished grandmother of Carter and Makenzie.  Loving sister of Mary Lou Meyers (Ralph Gicla), Diane Budzynski, brother-in-law Gerry Budzynski, and the late Richard (Violet) Meyers, Edward (Judy) Meyers, and M. Sam Fortune.  Devoted daughter of the late Nicholas and Loretta Meyers.  Former wife, business partner, and dear friend of Robert Huestis.  Fond aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Kathy grew up at 55th and Homan in Chicago Illinois. She went to St. Gall Elementary and Hubbard High School. Kathy graduated from Daly College in Chicago with an Associates in Applied Science and Law-enforcement. She married Robert Huestis on April 26, 1981. She was the proud owner and Vice-President of Johnstone Supply for over 30 years

Kathy was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed going to White Sox games with her family and friends. She celebrated all six championships with the Chicago Bulls, and did her best to never miss a Bears game.

She spent her free time camping, whether she be at the annual Covered Bridge Festival in Indiana, or at Lake Thunderbird in Putnam County, you could find her close to the warm fire. She was great at knitting extremely cozy blankets for her friends and family, as well as premature babies in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Since the birth of her grandchildren Kathy’s life has revolved around being the best grandmother she could be to Carter and Makenzie. Any opportunity she had to see them smile, she took. She lived and breathed for her grandchildren.

Kathy was a wonderful woman to have known. She had an incredibly large group of friends, as well as a caring family. Although Kathy only had one son, she embraced Bob’s friends as her very own children. The time spent with Bob and his friends were some of her favorite times of her life. Kathy was truly meant to be a mom, and she was a great one. She made you a better person, just by knowing her, and being in her presence. She always listened without judgment, spoke with wisdom, and carried herself with grace. She was truly one amazing woman!

Kathy was loved and cherished by more people than one can count. She will forever be missed and always be loved.
