Robert Huestis Obituary

Robert S. Huestis passed away at his home on Monday, November 28th, 2022 at the age of 66. Beloved husband of Heather Huestis. Caring father of Bob (Arielle), Natasha, and Brittany (Anthony). Loving grandfather of Landon, Carter, Talon, & Makenzie. Cherished brother of Bunnie Hull (the late Tom Hull), the late Raymond Huestis, John Huestis (Sharon Huestis), and Patti Cummings (William Cummings). Devoted son of the late Raymond E. and Bernice M. Huestis. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Bob grew up on the south side of Chicago.  He was a proud graduate of Hubbard High School and attended Daley College in Chicago.  He married the late Kathy Meyers on April 26, 1981.  He and Kathy were proud business owners and partners even after their divorce.  Bob married Heather Stewart on October 12, 2002. His love for Heather ran so deeply, and he really was a diehard romantic. They just recently celebrated their 20th anniversary in Arizona.

Bob always had the entrepreneurial spirit and purchased a single local appliance parts business on January 1, 1986.  He joined the Johnstone co-op in 1992 and things really took off from there.  His leadership and guidance attributed to the wide success of the business.  Over the following years the business grew to 6 locations spanning two states.

Bob spent his free time camping with Heather and his family.  One of his favorite annual trips was to the Covered Bridge Fest in Indiana. He loved traveling near and far and visiting all different places. He enjoyed spending the winter months in Huatulco, Mexico where he had many friends. Bob also enjoyed wood working and built a beautiful crib for his cherished grandchildren, among many other pieces.  Bob and his son enjoyed deer hunting together in Benton, Il, some of pieces are still proudly displayed in his home. In recent years he greatly enjoyed taking day trips on his scooter. His favorite riding buddy was his future son in law Anthony. They enjoyed exploring together.

Bob had a very goofy sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Everyone loved to kick back and have a drink with him. He and Heather loved to host parties and entertain. There was always someone swimming in the pool, something on the grill, and family and friends hanging in the yard.

Bob greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Particularly teaching them camping and woodworking skills.  Fishing was another one for their favorite activities.  He was always known to spoil them with ice cream every chance he got.

Bob was loved and cherished by more people than one can count.  He will forever be missed and always be loved.
