Stanley Kanapackis

Stanley Kanapackis, 85, known affectionately to his friends and family as "Stash", died peacefully on June 1, 2025.

For 58 years, Stanley was married to his best friend and wife Shirley Kanapackis (née Knez). He was the proud father of daughters Jill (James) Rector and Wendy (Dwayne) English, late son Joshua Kanapackis, and loving grandfather of Jade Rector, Cole English, Owen English, and Nathaniel Rector.

Stanley grew up in Brighton Park, Chicago and owned Stanley Oil Service Station with his late brothers Bruno Xavier Kanapackis and Paul Nicholas Kanapackis. Stanley earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served as a Specialist Five Scientific and Engineering Assistant of the Armor Division of the United States Army and Engineer Board from 1965-1967 in Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Stanley was a kind and jovial man with an exceptional work ethic. He was loyal and would do anything to help a friend. After retiring, he traveled with his wife, trying new cuisines and making great memories around the globe. Stanley spent his free time playing handball with friends, keeping an eye on the stock market, watching tennis and obscure films, and enjoying a nice glass of wine.

Visitation Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.   Funeral Thursday, beginning with Chapel Prayers at 10:30 A.M. at the Becvar & Son Funeral Home, 5539 W. 127th Street, Crestwood, to Incarnation Catholic Church, 5757 W. 127th Street, Crestwood, for an 11:00 A.M. Mass. Interment Private.
